Social space and motorcycle workshop

Getting Riders Lane’s social space and motorcycle workshop up and running is an all consuming passion for those at the front line. Creating a vibrant social space, an organised workshop with what you need to work on your bikes is both hard work and super rewarding. The vision is now reality!

Many visitors drop in to check out the result. They grab a coffee, stay for a chat, and often return a day or two later with a friend or partner. The result is amazing.

Motorcycle conversations are inevitably long. The time and experiences shared connects people; and brings them back.

We welcome everyone with an interest in motorcycles.

Come to Mitchell and say hello or visit our website – it changes every week!

Workshop update

A much loved Hayabusa is currently in the workshop being rebuilt by its owner — Mark. In the spirit of sharing knowledge, Mark is photographing each step of the rebuild. We are attempting to keep our Facebook followers up-to-take with his progress with frequent posts – when time permits.

Our Basic Motorcycle Safety Maintenance Course runs on Sundays 1:00 – 3:00 pm. More course detail and bookings are via the website.

A group of our social members enjoyed an organised ride to celebrate the reopening of the Captains Flat Hotel on Sunday 7 July. It was a little damp and I was grateful for my heated gloves but it was loads of fun.

We’re currently planning social events. Some ideas are listed below. Respond by email with additional ideas or place a vote for what’s on the list.

  • Film Nights at the workshop — flashback to the ‘bikie’ films from the past.
  • Quiz Nights – always fun, often competitive and there is always the chance of learning something too. A Riders Lane quiz night won’t be your typical affair — it will come with a slight twist on the expected.
  • Show & Shine —show off your pride and joy before the judges. This is your opportunity to dig into the garage and shine up that hidden gem or roll out your newest beauty. Of course we’ll organise a prize! Perhaps you’d like Rob (our photographer) to arrange an exclusive photoshoot of you with your treasured one?
  • Vinyl Lounge — bring your favourite vinyl records (or digital versions) and  hear what’s spinning on the turntables at our monthly listening party. Music from all genres and decades are welcome, along with your favourite music stories.
  • Yarn Night — riders tell their tales of the extraordinary travels, survival moments and encounters that experiences that are etched into their minds. Share your story in a conversation with the host of the evening (
  • Sunday Rides — long or short regional group rides to an interesting destination.
